Efforts to strengthen the school feeding system in Tajikistan are ongoing. As part of the State Programme for the Development of School Feeding for 2022–2027, and with the support of the World Food Programme (WFP), specialists from Russia’s Social and Industrial Foodservice Institute (SIFI) conducted a large-scale technical assessment of school canteens across the Khatlon province.

From December 23 to 26, 2025, experts began inspecting canteen infrastructure in the Bokhtar area. The assessment covered the districts of Khuroson, Kushoniyon, Vakhsh, Dusti, Qubodiyon, Shahritus, Nosiri Khusrav, A. Jomi, J. Balkhi, Panj, and Jayhun.

Immediately after the New Year holidays, from January 6 to 9, the work continued in the Kulob province. The team visited the cities and districts of Kulob, Norak, Yavan, M.S.A. Hamadoni, Danghara, Farkhor, Temurmalik, Vose, and Baljuvon.

The site visits went far beyond a routine inspection. Specialists evaluated the technical condition of the canteens, assessed the capacity of kitchen facilities, and reviewed their compliance with modern standards.

All collected data are currently being processed and analyzed. Based on the findings, a detailed plan will be developed to supply schools with updated equipment. The selection process will take into account current regulatory requirements as well as the practical needs of each school to ensure safe and comfortable conditions for providing hot meals to primary school children.
